Abstract
A novel decoupling network consisting of inter-digital capacitors and a short-circuited stub to improve the isolation of two closely spaced (edge-to-edge separation is 0.013λ0, where λ0 is the resonating frequency) patch antennas is investigated. Before and after the implementation of the proposed decoupling network (DN), the effect on the isolation is explored and the final decoupled structure shows a high isolation of 40 dB at 4.83 GHz. As the proposed structure can provide a good input impedance match after connecting the decoupling network in the system, there is no requirement of additional matching circuitry.
