Abstract
Apart from artificial alteration of photoperiod to influence egg‐lay in poultry, existing knowledge of the physiology of diurnal rhythms has scarcely been applied in animal husbandry. The present article reviews available information on this aspect of biological rhythms and possible applications in domesticated animals.
