Linguistic and Statistical Analysis of the Frequency of a Particular Word at Different Times (Diachrony) or in Different Styles (Synchrony)

Abstract

In this paper, a new method is developed to study the statistical frequency of a particular word at different times or in different styles. The equations used in such synchronic and diachronic studies can be easily evaluated. To validate our method, we have studied the variations of the use of some determiners in Classical Greek texts by Aristophanes and Herodotus.
