Records of the Grey Hornbill (Tockus nasutus), Crimsonrumped Waxbill (Estrilda rhodopyga) and African Silverbill (Lonchura cantans) in Egypt

Abstract

The first record of the Grey Hombill (Tockus nasutus) and the Crimson-romped Waxbill (Estrilda rhodopyga) in Egypt was made in Aswan on 30.12.1996. These are the first records in the Western Palearctic. The first record of the African Silverbill (Lonchura cantans) outside the region of Gebel Elba was made in Aswan on 27.12.1996.

Kurzfassung

Am 30.12.1996 gelang bei Aswan der Erstnachweis für den Grautoko (Tockus nasutus) und den Zügelastrild (Estrilda rhodopyga) in Ägypten und damit für die Westpaläarktis. Am 27.12.1996 wurden bei Aswan Silberschnäbelchen (Lonchura cantans) beobachtet; dies ist das erste Mal in Ägypten außerhalb der Region von Gebel Elba.
