Abstract

In order to reduce the complexity of Airy beams generation based on adaptive optics with a wavefront sensor, a wavefront sensorless adaptive optics system, which employs a camera to measure the far-field intensity distribution as the feedback for optimizing the control voltages of the deformable mirror, is proposed for generating high-quality Airy beams. A hybrid control method combining hill-climbing algorithm and open-loop control method is developed to correct the aberrations of the system and produce the cubic phases. High-quality tunable Airy beams were generated successfully. The properties of the generated Airy beams, such as non-diffraction, self-acceleration and self-healing, were verified. The experimental results coincide with the theoretical results, showing the proposed method has potential applications such as Airy beam light-sheet microscope and optical manipulation.
