Abstract

This paper presents a numerical method for calculating the scattered field when a vertically polarized Gaussian beam is incident on a flat or slightly rough conducting surface at a grazing angle and the refractive index of the propagation medium has a profile which is not constant. The method is a solution to the parabolic approximation of the full wave equation. The results presented are taken for a linear and log-linear refractive index profile.
