Enhancement of the Phase-conjugate Stimulated Brillouin Scattering Process Using Optical Feedback

Abstract

Stimulated Brillouin scattering with optical feedback has been experimentally and theoretically investigated. Threshold reduction, reflectivity enhancement and an improvement in phase-conjugate fidelity has been demonstrated. Analytical solutions of the interactions are derived under steady-state conditions. Transient effects are shown to be important in pulsed laser experiments.
