Abstract

A laser beam-shaping system was established with a deformable mirror (37 element) and a Shack—Hartmann wave-front sensor. The deformable mirror changes its surface to modulate the beam's phase distribution and the Shack—Hartmann sensor measures the laser wave-front in real-time. By using these components combined with the theories of wave-front aberration and diffraction, a laser beam with a circular Gaussian profile can be transformed to uniform rectangular irradiation at the focal plane. By the results of the experiment, the limiting factors of the optical system for reshaping uniform profiles are discussed.
