Development of the concept ‘chemical substance’ ‐ some thoughts and arguments

The concept of ‘chemical substance’ occupies a central position among all the concepts of chemistry. Hence, much attention is given to its development during introductory chemistry courses. In this article, the author explores various issues relating to the teaching about ‘chemical substance’ in secondary school chemistry courses.
