Abstract

This paper presents the results of investigations focused on the mechanical properties of ER-F padding welds, widely used in the metallurgical industry in the processes of regenerating large-sized elements. As high-alloyed, hardening padding welds are characterized by bad machining properties, their machining is performed only with great difficulty. The research conducted was aimed at determining the mechanical properties of these welds as a function of temperature. Tensile strength, hardness and technological shear strength tests were performed under the conditions of static and dynamic impacts. The investigations allow one to conclude that thermal-cutting processes could be recommended for machining hardly machinable padding welds.
