Abstract
This paper reviews the application of nickel alloys in the aircraft industry. Continuous competition for customers and the necessity of quality assurances are forcing manufacturers of engines to improve the achievements and perfection of their engines. Modern constructions of aerospace engines aim at increased productivity and efficiency with near simultaneous extension of their operational lifetimes. The global politics of environmental protection requires research in the field of modern solutions, limitation of noise and decrease in fuel consumption. This is achieved through the implementation of new materials and the continuously improved control of manufacturing processes. This paper describes the general application of selected nickel alloys in the construction of aerospace engines, and their processing methods at the WSK PZL-Rzeszów S.A. company, with a particular focus on the joining processes.
