Mechanism of the formation of the weld core in the resistance seam welding of components with greatly differing thickness

Abstract

Results of investigations into the special features of distribution of current density in resistance seam welding are presented and the temperature fields in the welding zone are determined. Experimental results show that the non-uniformity of the distribution of current density is the reason for the formation of a horseshoe-shaped weld core.
