Calculation of the heating rate of a preheated electrode in CO₂ welding

Abstract

The empirical equation describing the dependence of the melting rate (feed rate) of a welding wire on current, preheat temperature, and the diameter and extension of the electrode in CO₂ welding with reversed polarity current is derived. The dependence of the empirical coefficients of the equation on the process parameters is determined and the physical content of the parameters explained.
