Abstract

The results of investigations of special features of fatigue failure of the metal of welded joints using the new methods of fractal analysis of the fracture surfaces in metals science of welding are presented. The fractal dimension of the fracture surface is determined and its relationship with the kinetic characteristic of the process – the fatigue crack growth rate – is investigated. The relationships governing the effect of the composition of electrode coatings on the fatigue fracture characteristics are determined.
