Abstract
A non-stationary mathematical model of the submerged-arc process is presented for the first time. The model takes into account the main physical phenomena in the hydrostatic formulation. Special attention is given to the physics of the arc cavity. The calculated and experimental data are compared and satisfactory agreement is noted.
