Abstract
A method of testing butt welded joints in polymer pipes is described. In the test of the welded joints, failure takes place through the fusion area so that it is possible to determine quantitatively the strength of the welded joint. The results of tests by this method on welded joints produced in different conditions and at different environmental temperatures are presented. It is shown that at low temperatures it is rational to preheat the welded ends of the polymer pipes.
