Distribution of residual stresses in welded joints in 09G2S steel produced by adaptive pulsed-arc welding

Abstract

Results of investigations into the effect of conditions of adaptive pulsed-arc welding on the mechanical properties and distribution of residual stresses in welded joints in plates of 09G2S low-alloy steel are presented. Pulsed-arc welding increases the impact toughness of the weld metal at subzero temperatures in comparison with the stationary conditions, and compressive residual welding stresses were detected.
