Effect of gaseous sulphur hexafluoride SF6 on the process of MIG welding of AlMg4.5Mn0.7 aluminium alloy

 

Abstract

The results of investigations of the process of MIG welding of AlMg4.5Mn0.7 aluminium alloy with the addition of sulphur hexafluoride SF6 to argon at a concentration of 1.6–6.4% are presented. The aim of the investigations was to increase the productivity of arc welding and to improve the quality of welded joints and also the droplet transfer characteristics.
