Abstract
Data showing the efficiency of using the new flux-cored wire, Veltek-N285C, for reconditioning rapidly worn crane wheels are presented. The metal deposited with this wire contains metastable austenite, reinforced with carbides and undergoing dynamic deformation martensitic transformation during loading in service (the self-quenching effect in loading). Consequently, the internal resources of the material can be utilized.
