Abstract
Until now a reduction in the consumption of shielding gas has mainly been limited to technical measures to avoid or deal with gas losses. A constant supply of shielding gas has been used previously during welding. New possibilities for reducing the shielding gas have been opened up by variation of the shielding gas flow to the torch during the welding process.
