Abstract
This paper deals with two seam tracking systems for flanged edge joints, one based on sensing the arc voltage and the other on the differential signal of reflected electrons over both sides of the joint. The systems are suitable for TIG, microplasma and electron beam welding. In the paper, the principles, equipment and experimental results are described. On the basis of practical application, it is proved that the systems are simple, and can function almost free from disturbance, so they are suitable for industrial use.
