An investigation of spot welded - adhesively bonded components made with fusible adhesives

Pages 998-1002 | Published online: 04 Jan 2010

Abstract

The use of fusible adhesives in ribbon form with integrated metal components presents a new variation in the method of manufacture of sealed, corrosion protected, sheet metal items. This article reports on the results of investigations carried out to assess the technology and strength of such bonded joints in comparison with similar joints manufactured using conventional spot welding techniques.
