Abstract:

From analysis and experimental evaluation of the effects of various critical heat‐treatment parameters on the phase and microconstituent transformations brought about by the application of non‐isothermal heating and cooling cycles it is possible to revise the current conceptual approach to industrial continuous heat treatment of X45Cr13 and X60Cr14MoV martensitic stainless steels. The results obtained confirm the importance of applying the right thermal parameters for optimising the characteristic properties of these steels when hardened.
