The evaluation of technology in relation to products and markets: observations, considerations, experience, and solutions

Abstract

This article is based on findings and research on the implementation of CIM/FMS-like systems in Dutch small and medium-sized metal working industries. The article arises from a lecture presented to the international management conference on CIM problems held in June 1989 in Athens. The ideas raised by the research and the findings have led to decision theoretical approach described in the paper. The ultimate goal is to feed these findings into a decision support system (DSS), in which investment opportunities have to give rise to a wide variety of financial models. The DSS works interactively with the decision-maker in order to select the correct model of analysis.
