Abstract
This paper presents an approach to short interval scheduling as applied to two industrial cases involving discrete parts manufacturing. The approach is based on a concept for MAnufacturing DEcision MAking (MADEMA) which makes task-resource assignments for work centres consisting of a number of production resources. MADEMA combines multi-criteria decision making with search methods and simulation in order to provide flexibility with respect to both the decision criteria applied and the trade-off between decision quality and computational effort.
