Abstract

Industrial robots, such as autonomous mobile robots (AMR), autonomous guided vehicles (AGV), and autonomous land vehicles (ALV) are essential in unmanned automatic factories, the final objective of factory automation. They are still at an early stage of development and their application fields are also very limited. Previous industrial robots have seldom had autonomous moving functions, but they will play an important role for future factory automation. This paper proposes an autonomous moving system having a heuristic control technique similar to human thought, using the path planning algorithm, and describes a simulation to verify the function.
