ABSTRACT

In traditional machining process of large-scaled structural parts, the process-planned pre-machining process cannot respond to the unpredictable factors during machining process, and therefore the issues such as machining deformation cannot be well addressed. In this paper, a dynamic machining process planning based on deformation monitoring data is proposed so as to reduce machining deformation due to unpredictable factors. The influence rule of machining sequence on deformation is obtained by analysing the in-process workpiece deformation monitoring data, and the machining sequence can be adaptively adjusted in each machining layer for the purpose of machining deformation control. The part is partitioned into several areas to facilitate the machining sequence adjustment so as to ensure the machining efficiency while controlling deformation. Case study for algorithm validation and experimental validation is carried out, and the results show that the proposed online adaptive machining sequence adjustment method is effective in reducing machining deformation.
