Abstract
After commenting on the fact that ICEM was meeting in North America for the first time since its founding in 1951, and expressing sympathy with ICEM's aims of promoting world-wide contacts and providing a channel for exchanging views on the use of modern media in education, Mr. Pearson continued:
‘The Conference Theme—Reconsidering the Place of Educational Media—suggests that it is time for making a reappraisal and a fresh inventory of the effects of educational technology on human beings; to tackle difficult new problems that face us, and to chart new directions that lead towards old goals; to underline the need to retain human values in a welter of fresh innovations when so many established institutions are undergoing radical change.
