Abstract
Harry Lamb, who retired as principal of Bilston College of Further Education recently, was, in addition to his firm belief in liberal education, always ready to evaluate new developments in education. Shortly before his retirement he told me of a picture card, poster and flash card system he had used with French language classes in the early thirties—the forerunner of structured language laboratory material perhaps? Provided that any new development was of significant value to both teaching and learning one could usually expect that the local authority would find enough money to invest in the Scheme.
