Abstract
It is only in the last few years that education establishments in the UK have begun seriously to consider what form of in-service training in educational technology would be most suitable and effective for improving the learning situation. Many curriculum innovations were introduced in the late 60's and early 70's, but there was little opportunity to evaluate their effects; and few gave any emphasis to the pattern or style of teaching. Higher Education in particular, while expanding rapidly, and showing itself to be flexible about curriculum changes, and in patterns of organisation, has not found is easy to find ways of training and re-training its staff.
