The Communicative Potential of Visual Literacy: Research and Implications

Abstract

If guidelines are to be developed which will facilitate the effective and efficient use of visual illustrations for instructional purposes, then further research needs to be conducted on the instructional potential inherent within different types of illustrations. In order to implement such an investigation, the following questions were developed to provide a general orientation for a programme of systematic evaluation.
