Abstract
Although computer-based learning and mediabased learning have been established for some considerable time, and although the attributes and shortcomings of each are well documented, it is only in the past few years that it has been possible to bring together both systems. This article presents a review of the attributes of each system and identifies the deficiencies of each with regard to facilitation of different types of learning, then describes investigations undertaken to develop an integrated system in which the computer was able to control various randomly-accessed media devices and thus, exploit the full potential of each system in one total learning experience.
