Media's Effects on Children's Thinking Patterns

Pages 2-7 | Published online: 15 Apr 2008

Abstract

Numerous cognitive effects have been attributed to the mass media, particularly to TV. The critics charged the media with the disruption of children's moral fibre, the numbing of their minds, the teaching of distorted world views and values, and more. The enthusiasts have, likewise, expected the media to present the most important, unique and instructive materials, to widen children's intellectual horizons, to make them be informed and involved, and more.
