Towards a Schizophrenic or Responsible Society?

Abstract

If language has allowed us to verbalise experience and, as a result, to translate it into transmissible data, and if writing has allowed the storing and consequent dissemination of such data as information, then the school has become a successful agency for the organisation of this information which it duly communicates as learning. What more is information technology going to make possible now? Communicate maximum data in minimum time? Give access to abstract information which does not require actual experience? Classify theoretical knowledge? Make the pupil regurgitate what ha s been explained by the teacher?
