Abstract
This article describes an ongoing project of in‐service training of teachers working in an Haitian Ecole Normale. The article consists of four parts. Part 1 provides a brief review of literature dealing with the definition of in‐service training and its value for both new and experienced teachers and examines in‐service training in the context of a developing country. Part 2 presents a description of the ongoing project of in‐service training in Haiti in which a team of five faculty members from the University of Quebec in Hull is involved. Part 3 relates the author's experience as a participant in the project, teaching a course dealing with the development of instructional materials, and part 4 offers the author's thoughts and reflections about what can be learned from such an experience by all those involved, and attempts to assess the value of such an involvement.
