Theory and Practice Hand in Hand in Distance Education in Iceland

Pages 65-68 | Published online: 09 Jul 2006

Abstract

This article focuses on the role of practice in a decentralized part‐time study for teachers. First there is a short discussion of the concepts of distance education, decentralized education and flexible education, then a short description of the educational project as a whole, continued by describing and discussing training of professional skills at a distance by using a curriculum model as a framework of a contract between students and educational institutions. Four objects of professional skills training are then examined briefly.
