Abstract
This article concerns improved methods to schedule projects and proposes a new heuristic levelling method; net present value (NPV) resource levelling. The objective of this method is to maximize the net benefit of the project, while removing peaks in the resource demand. Cost, time and resources are balanced by applying a net present value representation, the Lichtenberg quality picture. Most traditional heuristic methods balance only two of the three mentioned parameters. The usually ignored stochastic effects arc also dealt with using successive scheduling. The test results show a considerable relative increase in the net benefit of the project, when applying the new method instead of a traditional one.
