The cerebellum in psychiatric disorders

Pages 295-301 | Published online: 11 Jul 2009

Abstract

While the cerebellum has not traditionally been seen to be involved in the pathophysiology of psychiatric disorders, over the last 20 years evidence of cerebellar abnormalities has accumulated in disorders such as schizophrenia, autism, mood disorders, dementia, and attention deficit-hyperactivity disorder. The literature is selectively reviewed here, with consideration of the implications of the available data on future research.
