Abstract
Criticisms are frequently levelled at the Commission for what it does ‐see, for example, Rodney Stare's article in public money, June 1982. But what about how it does it? In a recent Peat Marwick/RIPA seminar, Richard Wilding, deputy secretary in the public services division at the Treasury, cited the Commission's management information system as an example of good practice, along with that of the Ministry of Defence and the social security side of the DHSS. The Commission's chief executive explains how it works.
