Long before the miners’ strike had served to emphasise the ‘fuel diversity’ case for Sizewell, the Central Electricity Generating Board had already decided to down‐play, at least in public, such strategic questions. Instead, in its evidence to the Sizewell Inquiry, the Board concentrated the main thrust of its submissions on narrower economic issues. But how robust really is the case it put forward?
