SUMMARY

This paper highlights the importance of design parameters for successful product design, manufacture and performance. In particular, the ‘noise’introduced to product performance is investigated for its cause and effect. A Taguchi method of off-line quality control is used to optimize the parameter design process and some examples from Indian industry are given.
