Abstract

This paper reports the first part of a year‐long evaluation of an attempt to embed the use of IT within a Postgraduate Certificate of Education in Science with Technology. The paper outlines the context of the study, and presents the initial survey conducted during the first eight weeks of the 38 week course. The survey indicated a wide divergence in the experiences of the students on entry to the course and that the main barriers to the use of IT were time and access.
