X-ray Effects on Barley Roots

II. Single and Fractionated Exposure

Pages 373-382 | Received 08 Aug 1966, Published online: 03 Jul 2009

Summary

The effects of x-rays on barley roots are described and interpreted in terms of a model of the meristem cell population kinetics. With the aid of this model cell survival curves could be deduced for the meristem cells. The effect of dose-fractionation has also been studied and an ‘Elkind-type’ of recovery has been found also for this system.
