Improved Procedure for the Efficient Photocatalytic Decontamination of Polluted Groundwater

Pages 851-856 | Published online: 11 May 2010

Abstract

Data concerning the continuous photocatalytic decontamination of real samples of polluted water are reported. According to previous data literature, a number of inorganic anions compete with organic solutes for oxidizing sites on the catalyst surface, resulting in a marked reduction of the photo-oxidation rate. The influence of water pretreatment on the kinetics is evidenced. The implications for water purification processes based on photocatalytic oxidation are discussed.
