Some guides for measurements of volatile organic compounds indoors

Pages 339-344 | Received 12 Jan 1990, Accepted 26 Feb 1990, Published online: 17 Dec 2008

Abstract

Measurements of volatile organic compounds (VOC) in different indoor environments using a sampling of high time resolution showed that the concentration of VOC is a dynamic situation rather than static, and it depends upon other factors like time of the day, age of the building, activities and/or number of persons, position of measurement, and the temperature. A sampling strategy is required for obtaining relevant information about VOC indoors and six finger rules are proposed for designing a sampling protocol.
