Abstract
Several batch activity tests were performed to study the effects of a septic tank biological activator (composed of argillaceous microparticles) on psychrophilic anaerobic digestion of solid cellulose. COD of dissolved matter, pH, volatile fatty acids, methane, volume of residue after decantation and suspended solids were monitored. The tests showed microparticles intensified hydrolysis and improved the process of cellulose fermentation in these experimental conditions.
