The practice of physical therapy is changing as we move forward into the 21st century. Our scope of practice continues to be primarily focused towards rehabilitation of individuals with impairments and dysfunction. Yet as we evolve into primary care providers and are directly accessed by patients our role changes from one exclusively geared toward examination and intervention to one including informing our patients about health issues that impact their current and future wellness.

This Special Issue discusses areas where physical therapists can make an impact on our patients' lifestyles and promote health and wellness. Dr. Dean, an outstanding researcher and international speaker, heads this issue as our special issue editor, and I thank her for her tremendous dedication to leading this evolution globally for physical therapists and more specifically for her tremendous effort on this important and practice changing volume. Enjoy this evidence packed issue and please embrace the concepts into your daily practice.
