Abstract
Earlier this year, a decision was taken by the Council of Phillip Institute of Technology that planning should proceed for the introduction of a new Graduate Diploma in Applied Science (Drug Dependence). This paper describes the planning process to date, outlines the objectives for the course and identifies a number of dilemmas encountered in curriculum development. The experiences and issues described may be of interest to others concerned with developing courses or in-service training programs in this area.
The authors would like to stress that this paper, hurriedly prepared, represents their perspective on an exercise still in progress. The subjective nature of the contents should particularly be borne in mind when reference is made to the views of the Course Advisory Committe.
