SUMMARY
Reference is made to models of understanding the relationship between alcohol use patterns and other variables. Inadequacies of the distribution model are examined and an outline is provided of development since 1981 of the Queensland Hotel Patron Care Progam. This program can be seen to derive from a socio-cultural model.
