Abstract
A draft of an idealized core curriculum on alcohol and drug studies for the undergraduate medical course is presented. Five major core content areas are described in order of priority. For each of these areas, the educational objectives in the form of knowledge, skills, and attitudes are outlined. For each objective, specific teaching approaches, evaluation methods, and appropriate timing in the curriculum are suggested. Priorities and problems in implementation are discussed.
